Hi -- the latest software update seems to have killed my hard drive. There used to be stickies explaining how to replace and re-image a hard drive, but they seem to be gone...can anyone help point me in the right direction. Also, anything that is in "plain English" would be helpful -- I am a total beginner and have no idea what most of the threads I've read mean (what is the "white cable" problem?).
Thanks.

The white cable problem is a small white flex cable between the mobo and front display board. DO NOT dislodge it. Check it last before replacing the cover. If it is moved/dislodged, your TiVo will suffer irreparable harm. Search this forum. It may have been archived.

Hardly irreparable. The result is usually a fried inductor on the PCB, which can easily be replaced. Some people have reported successfully replacing the inductor with just a straight wire, although I'd recommend actually replacing the component.
