I recently got a 250 GB Hitachi Deskstar HDP725025GLAT80
Used Hinsdale to back up a 2 drive system from one tivo, then restored it to my new drive (one drive system), then the mfsadd for the larger capacity.
When I put the new disk in the tivo it never gets past the welcome powering up screen. It stays there about a minute, the screen goes black, then it starts over rebooting. Never gets to "almost there."
The tivo boots fine with its old drive, so the ide cable is fine, power supply, etc. It is something about the new drive.
I used the MFSLBA48.iso version of mfstools. The size of the disks is fine when I first boot up the drives in the computer. The backup and restore report that they complete successfully. After mfsadd the correct recording size is shown for the disk.
I downloaded the hitachi disk fitness utility and it reports that the disk is fine.
I've tried several different jumper settings. I found a link to jumper settings for this drive
http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/7k500/7k500jum.htm
that reports that some systems require a jumper setting for 15 heads rather than 16 otherwise the system thinks the disk capacity is 0. I've tried both jumper settings but neither works.
I've done Hinsdale upgrades several times in the past and they have always worked fine. I've double checked all the commands. I've repeated the entire process just in case. I've tried restoring and increasing capacity at the same time. Same results.
Please help!
