View Full Version : How to activate non-RID DirecTivo?

Hey all - after several calls, I am unable to find someone who is able to activate one of my old HDVR2's. They keep asking for the RID, but this unit doesn't have one. Apparently the access card number and other on-screen information is not enough. Is there any way I can activate this receiver without having an RID? Calling customer service is sure getting old. Thanks.

What? Call back and ask for the card division and tell them you want to add it. None of my receivers have a RID and i have recently added and removed several non-RID receives. Or if you want to cut to the chase, call back and insist that you want to talk to a manager. Just keep insisting. There should be no problem activating the old HDVR2 on an existing account. There are hundreds of thousands still in use.

Thanks, doc. I figured this was the case, but the first three reps I spoke to were clueless. I will have to ask for a manager. I tried explaining myself ten ways from Sunday, but I guess it's very hit and miss with the lower-level support.

Yup, did this last time I changed receivers. Works like a charm.
