I am considering buying a TIVO HD to replace my SA8300HD from Brighthouse. One of my main reasons is to allow me to watch my photographs on my computer on my 65 inch 1080i HD TV. How well does photo 2.0 work? Is it flexible and bug free? Does it show photos in 1920 by 1080 resolution? Is there any flicker on an interlaced TV? I have used a computer to attach to my TV, but picture quality was lacking and there was flicker.

Not sure if I'd buy a TIVO to look at photos - I use it to record TV ;-) That said I really like Photos 2.0 for photo viewing on my 50" TV - the resolution is much better than the default non-java enabled app that comes with TIVO, and it's ability to navigate the folders on my PC easily is a plus. I have not encountered any bugs with it, nor noticed any flicker. I wouldn't really call it 'flexible' - there's not a lot of options that I'm aware of besides a slide show - but it gets the job done. The Broadband Features manual available on the Tivo web site says that the JPEGS are 'automatically scaled to fit 1280 x 720'.

I have a lot of photos on my computer and I tag them in Photoshop elements so I can filter them. If I use TIVO, can I specify tags and dates or albums, or do I just have to play everything in a folder with no capability to sort or filter. That would not make TIVO very flexible.

I'm 99% sure there's no tagging/filtering capability. You can walk your directory structure and view/slideshow all the photos in the directory - that's about it.
You could probably export the desired (filtered/tagged) photos to a new directory from Elements (which I also have) and then view that directory from your Tivo, but you can't do this filtering from within Tivo.

Thanks. That would be a work around.
