Wow!
I hadn't trusted Smits---I still thought he might be setting up Dexter...
Julie Benz is looking especially beautiful lately. Crazy, sure, but beautiful...

Just a great episode. I can't wait to see where it is going.

Why would you say she is crazy? I've never seen her character do anything crazy. I haven't seen this particular episode yet so if it is something from this one, you don't need to answer.

This and the past episode or two. She's pregnant-crazy.

Julie Benz doesn't look crazy to me. Her character, maybe...

As opposed to the completely harmless slice and dice crazy of the title character? :D

"Maybe I can help you out with that one" Dexter, I think you need to stop helping people out.:) Dexter has helped one to many people.

Wow!
I hadn't trusted Smits---I still thought he might be setting up Dexter...I guess you were lucky enough to miss the spoiler posted here a few weeks ago, where Smits accidentally stabbed a stunt guy in real life because he picked up the wrong knife (stunt guy's OK, he was wearing a shield). I've been expecting the corresponding scene... now we've seen it.

So now that Smits has seen Dexter in action, and is starting to learn about "The Code", when will he realize that Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher?

I think the bhb is closed case.
That said...
One of the problems with bringing fresh cast members is as an audience member you start to wonder where they were during the events of previous seasons. Especially when we are told they have been in Miami the whole time. It's because of that I don't think the BHB will be brought up at all

The BHB has already been mentioned at least once this season. Yes, of course everyone thinks that Doakes was the BHB, but Smits should be smart enough to put the pieces together. Dexter is obviously a serial killer, who has done this many times before and also only preys upon the guilty.
Well, that's a perfect description of the BHB. What? Were there two in the same office?

I still think it's ridiculous to think that a D.A. would want to be involved in something like this. But hey, I still love the show.
I do think there's no good outcome for Smits' character here. He's reckless. He's overly impassioned about doing these killings. All these things make for mistakes, which Dexter cannot allow. I have to think that the only way to end this season is for Dexter to kill him. But perhaps that's just too obvious.

This is an excellent point that I hadn't really considered at all.

He showed up at her door.
Unless they're pulling a Hill Street Blues (which I severely doubt), I don't like her chances next week...

The way she smiled at him when he came to the door makes me think they are lovers. But that probably wouldn't stop him from killing her...
We were sure Debra boyfriend (can't think of his name right now) was dead when he didn't return her calls. It seemed like Debra was getting a bit smarter this season, but how dumb is she to not figure he'd been killed or kidnapped when he didn't return her calls?

That first episode ended with the most ridiculous hook-up in TV history. It was such a shameless piece of manipulation, setting them up as people who hated each other and then having them turn out to be lovers, that it pretty much turned me off to the show forever.
I think Dexter is better than that, but we'll see...

Debra wanted to think that the CI that didn't have to be a CI anymore had skipped town. She didn't want to think he'd end up as a victim of whomever it is doing the killing.
The C-story line with the IAD cop and the detective must be one of the weakest links this show has ever had. I don't care at all about those characters. They have nothing to do with the show at all. They seem to be transplanted from some other (lesser) show.

Angel's storylines have never been all that interesting. I like him as a character, but only in the context of policework relevant to the main storyline. Similarly, Debra's storylines are rarely interesting.

But I put it down to her lack of self-worth -- of course a guy's gonna dump her, that's the obvious explanation, in her mind.

But in this case the Angel/Debra storylines are the major B storylines. They are both on the skinner case. The skinner may not be related to the antics of the psychotic DA and his new friend but they are important to the overall story.
I was talking about the story line between Debra's partner and that IAD lady that keeps stalking Debra like she's going to magically change her opinion and help IAD with whatever it is they are after.

Too bad for you. The Furillo/Davenport relationship was one of the best, most mature love stories on TV in that era.

Ok, I should have said, I don't care about Debra's love life. The skinner stuff is kind of interesting but I've really had enough of every season having to involve Debra's love life. I am starting to think it's an inside joke because Michael C. Hall is dating her.

I have been disappointed in this season. The acting hasnt been that great. Angel cant seem to act at all this year. From the way things ended it looks like Dexter will have to make the Smits character one of his next victims.

Miguel Prado is a loose cannon, and he's packing a set of cannonballs. Now that he has had a few lessons in the art of "justice", it appears as though Dexter has created a monster. I was still very skeptical about Miguel's motives -- always expecting a set-up -- but the beast was unleashed in this episode.
Nice cliffhanger.
Im a big fan of this show and its the only reason i have Showtime. I really wished CBS would have kept Cane around. Smits is a good actor
Oh and I also think they are smart as hell for putting it on CBS for a season. Thats how i got hooked on it.

Saw Smits on Regis & Kelly this morning, and even Smits said that "this can't end well" for his character. Smits seemed to relish the role as much as Prado relishes his new role. Smits also said that Miguel and Dexter are having a "bromance" on the show. LOL!

How many episodes are left in the season? I don't see him surviving to season 4.

4 episodes are left in this season. That's plenty of time for Dex to give Miguel his trademark treatment.
