Holographic projections that let us live the shows we record.

And sandwiches.

Lots and lots of tasty sandwiches. And beverages.

hmm, interesting...

That would have been great while I was still in college. Football game is on, oh wait now a commercials on. Let's Order Pizza!!!!!

There isn't a Dominos close enough to my home to deliver, and Dominos isn't all that good to start with, it's just Ok pizza. Pappa Johns, or better yet, local pizza parlors.

Kind of interesting I guess, for people who don't have phones.

According to Dominos.com, there are three Dominos near me: one is carry out only and the other two are "closed". So I guess I won't be using this.

While my favorite local pizza joint doesn't offer online ordering, I have used online ordering with Papa Johns. In general, online ordering is great! No need to repeat the order 3 times, the phone number 3 times, the address 3 times and still have them screw up the order!

That's a good point. I have never thought of that. I have been lucky I guess. I have never had a pizza order messed up. Subs and calzones that's another story. I have ordered a steak and cheese, peppers and onions only to get it with no steak!

When I was in college I always found it quicker and easier just to hit the speed dial on my cell phone rather then fuss with the computer to order pizza. No need to wait for it to boot, load the page, log in. But with a tivo, instant access. Hmm.

Tivo, when is papa johns coming to TiVo:cool::p

Not that would help me much though. No places deliver to where I currently live=\

Nice marketing gimmick, but pretty worthless. Hey Tivo marketers, how about built-in shoutcast support or the ability to play MP3s and WMAs off a NAS?

Well, interesting idea, but I watched their little video on how to order, and I still don't know how to order! It says to select the "Order Domino's pizza" menu choice, but I don't have that, I don't think. Maybe it's just me.

Try looking in your Music, Photo, Products, & More section. It should be in there.

It also may be a menu item under Message & Settings with a white tivo icon saying something about pizza and dominos. It's been showing up there on and off today for me as well.

This is, and I think it was mentioned elsewhere, one of those 'holy grail' deals.

The problem I see is that, outside of ordering pizza from Dominos, Papa Johns, or Pizza Hut, and maybe a movie from Amazon, what else are you going to order via your TV/remote that'll make any sort of sense?

Everything else makes more sense to just go to your PC and order it there. You could even make a good argument that going to your PC to order a pizza makes more sense just in general because you're likely to have all the latest options/promotions at that point whereas the TiVo app is more likely a 'pet project' of someone's which won't really ever have the funding to be useful and will eventually die off after the initial novelty has worn off.

The TV is the new PC.

It has just taken time, and will indeed take longer still to fully develop. Of course this implies you are not reading a bunch of text but doing things in an interactive multimedia way that TV is best at.

if this "pet project" sells a bunch of food on Super Bowl Sunday you can bet the money will be there for next event. It is limited to TiVo DVRs but here you have 2 million ad hits on the Super Bowl for WAY less than trying a 30 sec spot in the actual broadcast

The question should be is why the shopping channels have not jump on this. Press thumbs up buy this item NOW, only x number available hit that thumb NOW. :D

I really wish Tivo would allow us to enter passwords and usernames for Dominos, Youtube, whatever on their website (which of course has our Tivo ID Number on it), and not through the horrible remote.

Or enable keyboard USB access to the Tivo.

Typing with the remote makes it not worth the bother.

I do like the pizza-tracker app on the computer. If Tivo can 1-up that by streaming video of them making my pizza, I might try the Tivo again...

I'm pretty sure if you enable kidszone your kids wont have access to buy anything. Have tried enabling that yet?

With that enabled, I believe all you kids get is a custom npl, and to access more features such as settings and hme apps you need to enter your pin.

you using kidzone?

kidzone locks out ALL the extra stuff

it allows the kids only access to thier special now playing list and the channels you allow for live tv (plus all the ratings limits etc.)

Yep, two things I'd like.

Using my account on Dominos, pull my credit card information saved with them. Like Amazon purchases.

And provide use of coupons. I always use the coupon deals when ordering pizza delivery.

Otherwise, good start.

Yeah, my local Domino's offers much different pricing between the standard menu price and a post-coupon price. A large specialty pizza costs close to $20 on the standard menu... click on the right Internet coupon and your first is $9.99, second and third $7.95 each.

I've checked the internet elsewhere pricing by entering my work address and see that your milage may vary greatly on coupons. With the exception of the deals offered on TV, all deals are up to your local owner.

Dominos isn't all that good to start with, it's just Ok pizza.
I'd rate it better than that. Except for the expense and the relative sparsity of the toppings, I'd rate Dominoe's as a good pie. 'Far better than Pizza Hut.

Pappa Johns, or better yet, local pizza parlors.
Papa John's is good, and Little Ceasar's has about the best value, although not the best pizza.

We don't have any local pizza parlors in my neighborhood, unfortunately. 'Lots of terrific Mexican, though.

I ordered tonight. It was kind of a PITA to work through all of the menus. I'll stick to the website.

I tried it last night. You only have to enter all the info the first time. It remembers all of your info. Next time you can just select your items and release the order - actually very fast and easy.

They got here in about 20 minutes. Not bad - but costly. My large "MeatZZa Feast" Deep Pan pizza (no other items) cost me $25 by the time tax, delivery, and tip were added in.

As far as the quality and taste - I actually liked it better than I thought I would. However, it does not compare to my local pizza shop who has excellent pizza (but no delivery).

i fell sorry for you. Calling any of the chains "pizza" is sort of a misnomer. ;)

Pizza in my head is made at a mom and pop and is typcially vastly different then the cardboard with cheese that the chains sell.

Seeing that I had to sign up to create an account, I passed and decided if I ever wanted it I could just go to the PC and sign up to create an account.

The only way TiVo would be a value add is if I could track the ETA and location of my order in small window on the TV screen. :D

My biggest issue, isn't with the application itself, but with Dominos.
My local Dominos isn't even listed and three of them that are, are all carry out. And that to the fact that I never order from Dominos and the application is just cluttering up the Music & Photos menu (along with the other apps I don't use).

Tried the Dominos TiVo app tonight for the first time. What a lemon. Glitched out 3 times, finally thought it was working. Entered one pizza (REAL slow process, took almost 4 minutes). Tried to enter 2nd pizza, TiVo wouldn't respond to remote inputs for 60 seconds. Finally all those stacked up remote commands started boinging through and it glitched back to the main menu. Order lost.

EPIC FAIL, TIVO.

Tried the Dominos TiVo app tonight for the first time. What a lemon.

I agree. I just tried using it and it's soooo slow it's unusable. My session hung up while entering my street address. It threw the error: "An error occured while running the application. HTTP failure (Http connection error: Error 5 from SSL_connect (errno 131))." I'm guessing there's something wrong on the server side.

I had to totally reboot my Tivo to eliminate the error. That is, I couldn't re-use the Dominos app, the rest of the Tivo was fine. HME apps are so disappointing.

The idea is cool but the implementation kills it. No thanks. And without some 'incentives' I'm not going back. No coupons? No specials? And you want me to put up with a crappy HME app? Uh, NO.

So I picked up the phone and ordered from Besta Pizza, a local shop. Granted the accent of the guy on the other end of the call is nearly unintelligible, but I can at least actually GET IT ORDERED.
