Tivo will ever again offer older lifetime service members a chance to upgrade to HD and keep the lifetime service for a fee?

Yeah, people say they will never do it again, yet they continue to offer these promotions every now and then. I would never count on them doing it. But I certainly wouldn't say they will never do it. My guess is you might see something when the Series4 comes out. Although with the amount they charged last time, it might be a better deal to just sell your lifetime box and buy a new TiVo w/ lifetime.

Back in 2006, TiVo discontinued Lifetime subs, saying they will "never" offer them again and to buy them before the cutoff date.

"Never" in the TiVo dictionary meant about a year and a half.

I think Tivo will do a deal like this again, and it would be nice if they did it for the upcoming OTA digital transition.

My S2 is on the verge of being "old enough"* for a deal like this.


* Tivo considers ~4 - 4.5 years the time it takes to recoup the value of lifetime service on a Tivo.
