The USA comedy about the obsessive-compulsive Adrian Monk (Emmy-winner Tony Shalhoub) will return for an eighth and final season, USA announced late Friday.

8 seasons, 125 episodes that just doesn't sound very Monk-ish to me. They should do 25 additional episodes split between 2 seasons. That would make 10 seasons, and 150 episodes. That would be much better.

Does anybody have any logic with to how they rerun episodes? Somehow I missed "Mr Monk Falls In Love" on its original run, and it was finally run a few weeks ago again, but I didn't pad it, so missed the last segment.. (and AFAIK, the whole eps aren't online anywhere).

I do a View Upcoming every once in a while, but they seem to be rerunning this season's eps sporadically, but not in order???

Aw. I'll be sad to see it go. I've been on and off of it from the beginning, but I always watched.

Article states they will finish up 7, and do an 8th. I'm (tongue-in-cheek) suggesting 2 more.

Hopefully the writers will end the series with Monk finding the person(s) truly responsible for Trudy's murder.

Didn't Dale The Whale tell Adrian that the six fingered man (who planted the car bomb) has been hired by someone called "The Judge"??
So presumably Dale The Whale knows what the story is.
I hope they can get either Adam Arkin or Tim Curry to come back for the final arc and help Adrian solve the case, as that last guy who played The Whale was terrible.
And Natalie totally has to hook up with Randy :p

I've given my finale prediction before, but want to get it in once more so I can claim bragging rights if/when it happens.
Finale is an Oz inspired show:
Above spoilered string puller is The Wizard.
Randy gets a brain (promoted).
Stottlemeyer gets a heart (a forever woman).
Monk gets courage (is cured).
And Natalie goes home (reunites with estranged $$ family).

I will be very disappointed if this doesn't happen! They would be so cute together.

I've been watching some of the old episodes from when Sharona was still on and it is hard to believe we thought we would miss her. She is shrill and rude! Natalie is a much better member of the cast.

The writing and directing this season has suffered, IMHO. Used to be you better pay attention because there were absolutely no wasted scenes or non-sequiturs. Everything would be important later on. Now they are rampant and annoying. Also, Hector Elizondo is a little too wooden as the shrink. Loss of Stan Kamel hurt the series a lot.
