I'm still sorting out how synching works between the Touch, the ATV, and iTunes. I think I'm finally getting it, but while sorting it out I messed up a few things and hope there are fixes ...
First and worst, I have evidently deleted about 8 movies I had purchased on the ATV. I didn't have space on my laptop, so deleted from iTunes, not realizing that would also delete them from the ATV. Is there any way to recover these? Does Apple customer service ever take pity and restore? (Would I be best served going to the genius bar at the local apple retailer?)
Secondly, I have another few movies that I had purchased on the ATV resident on my iTouch - but no where else. Anyway to get those "back" on the ATV so others in the family can watch? (I tried dragging them over, but no luck there.)
Third, a question. There is an option in iTunes (in the iTouch menu) to "disable Auto Sync iPhones/iPod". I checked that as I think autosyncing got me into trouble in the first place. Is this the right way to go?
But I did leave as the checked option to "Sync all Movies" from the ATV menu ... Is this the right thing to do as well? I think the combined effect is to leave the iTouch out of the syncing equation, but to otherwise allow it between iTunes and the ATV device, which again should be OK if I don't touch the listing in the library ...
I have learned my lesson though - the set up is pretty unforgiving. I will back up everything on an external hard drive, and basically NEVER delete anything from the iTunes library (recognizing I can still delete it from the internal drive, with back up on the EHD).
Hoping for advice on the above!
Thanks ...
