I have an odd problem. My Series 3 will not record or play HBO analogue live.

I have a Sony Bravia TV hooked to two Series 3 TiVos. Plus, I have five other Series 2 TiVos in the house. Until the last few days, all received HBO on Cox Channel 15 for analogue and Cox Channel 880 for HD.

Now, I can get HBO on all other sets except one of the Series 3 sets. It will not record or play any HBO live. (Series 2s obviously do not get the HD stations, but the working Series 3 gets them all fine.)

I keep getting a grey screen with my Cable Card information and the phone number of my provider, Cox.

Cox says they need to send out a technician. Usually, they cause more problems than they solve as the technician has never seen a TiVo before let alone a cable card.

Logic tells me that a bad Cable Card would not allow me to receive any stations on that TiVo. Is it possible that the card can only "fail" for HBO?

I'd appreciate any insight you guys can give me.

I had a similar problem when Cablevision installed my CC, I could get some of the HBO's but not others.
It turns out that the cable company had incorrectly flagged some channels as NOT AUTHORIZED even though I was paying for them.
The technician finally had it fixed but it took him a while to explain to his home office and to find a 'TiVo" experienced tech on that end to help him.

That was my thought, too, even though they swear all cards are authorized. I think I'm calling back before I get someone out here and waste an afternoon.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
