Having a curious problem with my Phillips DSR 708. It runs fine and is still using the factory 80GB hard drive. However, tuner 2 is giving me a problem, but not on all channels. Whenever I have tuner 2 on any channels between 500 and 550 it will start to pixelate out just as if I'm loosing signal from a storm. When I switch to the other tuner it is fine. I can switch the problem tuner to a local or channels in the 200 range and it will behave as if there is no problem and I can just switch to the other tuner and watch channels in the 500 range with tuner 1.
I pulled the unit out and cleaned all the dust off the inside and switched the S-Video out and used the composite( as this has been suggested for a fix else where in the forum) and even switched the input Sat cables around to see how that does. Nothing helped with the problem. Still will get messages from the DVR saying it is loosing Sat signal on tuner 2 ( of coarse which means I'm on tuner 1) and when this happens the other tuner is always on one of the channels it has problems with. I can then switch it to a local channel and all will be well. Every time it happens I can go and check signal strength and they are both above 92%.
If this was an issue with just tuner 2, then wouldn't this happen on all channels that tunner 2 is on and not just certain ones?
BTW: How does one identify which tuner you are on? The only way I've been able to tell is when I get a message saying something is wrong with the other tuner?
Any input would be appreciated with this issue.
Thanks
Patrick
