I am new to Tivo. Can I purchase PPV using the Tivo User Interface?

If you are using a Series 1 or Series 2, yes. If you are using a Series 3 or TiVo HD then the answer for now is no. The cable companies are working on a dongle which will allow you to do some. I think some have rolled them out to test markets. I am able to order PPV over the phone and then tune to that channel to see it.

The dongle is about getting SDV channels (switched channels that are not normally sent)
it was not designed to do PPV/VOD but could ask for the right channel if you knew which one to tune to.

No current TiVo DVR is designed to display the PPV/VOD stuff - you should keep a cable box in the house for that stuff.

Not with Standalone TiVos.
On Series 1/2 models with a box, you need to order with the box remote.

On the HD models, you need to order from the provider beforehand, either from the web or by calling them.

A DirecTV TiVo model will allow you to order PPV on it though.
