I'm not aware that it's been announced, but I'd guess at least January, if not later.

I saw a commercial in the last week or so about Scrubs "finding a new place to practice" or something like that. I didn't catch a date but I'd guess January as well.

More to the point, how on earth did you draw any sort of logical connection between "Scrubs" and Kristen Chenoweth, past the fact that both are now on ABC?

8:30/7:30c - "Scrubs" (New Season)
9:00/8:00c - "Lost" (New Season)

You haven't been watching the right parts of Pushing Daisies.

IIRC, there have been instances of certain actors from shows on other networks who were not permitted to guest star on Scrubs because of a beef between their network and NBC.

Well Courtney Cox is en route this season. (taking Kelso's place, not sure if she's going to be the new JD love interest) I've always thought she was hawt.

They need to get it on air soon though. A change of networks and a long hiatus could be bad.

Everybody is listed 2001-2008 on imdb.com. Did Kelso [the character of course] completely retire? I forget. (At first I was confusing Kelso with Cox.. I hope Cox isn't gone too.)

I think it's the other way around. Scrubs was trying to put together an episode that had every moderately significant bit player reappear before the series ended, but NBC wouldn't allow Masi Oka (Franklyn) or Sarah Lancaster (Lisa the Gift Shop Girl) to appear because they're regular characters on Heroes and Chuck.

I knew I didn't quite remember exactly what happened. Either way, this explains the original comment that was called into question; namely, that the girl from Pushing Daisies can appear this season because she is not tied to NBC.

Kelso quit Sacred Heart at the end of last season- but Ken Jenkins hasn't left the show. My bet is he's coming in as a patient or a board member in season 8.

'Scrubs' Moves to ABC!
The long-running, hit comedy Scrubs moves to the ABC Television Network for its eighth season. Irreverent and decidedly offbeat, the series received two consecutive Emmy® nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2005 and 2006, and was most recently named TV.com's ''Best of 2007'' in Comedy.
In its debut year, Scrubs was nominated for two Emmy Awards and a People's Choice Award. It has received a total of 10 Emmy nominations, and in 2005 it won the Emmy for Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing. In 2004 the series was honored with a prestigious Humanitas Prize. Beginning that same year, it received three consecutive Producers Guild Award nominations, from 2004–2006.
Scrubs focuses on the strange experiences of Dr. John Dorian, or ''J.D.'' (Zach Braff), a medical attending, as he continues on his healing career in a surreal hospital crammed full of unpredictable staffers and patients — where humor and tragedy can collide at any time.
Joining the rumpled J.D. at Sacred Heart Hospital are fellow attendings Chris Turk (Donald Faison) — J.D.'s college buddy who is part of the elite surgical group — and the beautiful but socially awkward Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke).
Former chief of medicine Dr. Bob Kelso (Ken Jenkins) has taken up residence at the hospital coffee shop, where he can keep a watchful eye on the attendings and Turk's wife and no-nonsense head nurse, Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes). Meanwhile, the caring Dr. Perry Cox (John C. McGinley) struggles with an identity crisis as he reevaluates his career, and the hospital janitor (Neil Flynn) — J.D.'s nemesis — never seems to miss an opportunity to harass his target.
Scrubs debuts on ABC with its season premiere on January 6, 2009.

I saw the promo for the new ABC season, and something about the picture looked different from the NBC episodes. I can't quite put my finger on it; it might be because it's in HD, but it seems like it's something else, like everything is more brightly lit or something.

Look at CBS NBC and ABC in primetime.
To me NBC has always has a darker tint to it, ABC looks bright and sort of soft, CBS always medium brightness and very sharp.
I have never seen anything to indicate why. I wonde if it was cameras, the frequency the networks broadcast on, or something they do in post production to identify with the viewer which network they were watching.
I can always tell what network I am watching based on how the picture looks.

Now, it seems a little odd to go HD for one season. Then again, it sure would be nice to have had one season of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" in color.

Carl Reiner said the network was thinking of it in I think the 3rd season, but they decided not to for cost reasons.

Dumb down? Very little about NBC can be described as "smart" to begin with.
ABC brought it over because they own the show, and always have. They have no incentive to change it into another show now that they've got it, especially as this is the last season.

I may have to back off my objection to your comment a bit. There's a story on the show (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/30/arts/television/30scru.html) in today's (12/30) NY Times. It's mostly benign, but it does say that ABC's Standards and Practices would not allow Todd to wear his banana hammock on the show.

I read somewhere (possibly here) that the creator did not want to film in HD or more specifically in 16:9 aspect because a lot of scrubs is shot in hospital hallways and it would not look right.
