Series 2 TiVo + Directv TiVo unit

Hi all:

I need a little assistance here. I have a TiVo series 2 dvr with a lifetime subscription on it, I also have a Phillips directv TiVO unit ( about 4 years old).

Here is the problem they both use the same remote control coding. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change either of them to a different code. I know that in the set-up menu of some units there was a setting for " remote1", " remote2" etc so that those of us with mutiple units could control each one separately.

Does anyone know how to this with these 2 units?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi all

I did find out how to " re-code" the remotes. The new problem is with my LOGITECH HARMONY 659 remotes. I cannot get them to program eith seperate codes. I can set the TiVo's each to different codes just fine with the " OEM" remotes, but when I go to set up the harmony , It only sends " code 0" which of course works both units at the same time. Logitech was not of much help on this one.

Anyone got any ideas

The tivo remote can be set for up to 9 different codes to 2 different tivos. Pressing and holding the tivo button with the pause until the light stays on then a number 1-9. But the tivo will only change in the system info screen.

1st, you cover 1 of the tivo remote sensor to set the other one, then navigate to the system info screen. Hold Tivo + Pause, press 1. Leave system Info. Remove cover off other tivo to cover the tivo just set. Repeat but pressing 2 instead of 1. Of course, you can use any 2 numbers from 1 to 9. Also, the 0 is the 'generic' code that will work on all 1-9 codes.
