Pretty good episode, except I could have really done without Olivia' German love interest. It slowed the episode down, badly.
So, I guess the whole thing was a plot by the guy who got shot to get the Little Hill information? Is that right? I felt like I was overlooking something after I got done watching it.

You mean a plot by the guy with the parasite around his heart don't ya? The guy who got shot had the Little Hill information.
And I totally agree with you about the love interest.

The love interest seemed to be there to spark some kind of background jealousy between Olivia and Peter.
I also loved Peter's diatribe about his dad to Broyles. Also Broyles' deadpan responses to several things in this episode led me to think he was going to have a more negative response to Olivia at the end.

Without John Noble I don't think I'd still be watching this show. His character is so immensely amusing. Broyles' cold stare at him when he goes off talking about mints was something else.
"Hello, Peter, this is me, this is your father, Walter Bishop."
"Yes, I know who you are."
"Excellent!"

Their interaction is what makes this show interesting to me. John Noble is doing a fantastic job with this role.
My husband spotted the watcher or whatever the bald guy is called in an airport scene.

My husband spotted the watcher or whatever the bald guy is called in an airport scene.I did also, although it was the very first time I have, so my record isn't too great! :)

I missed him dang. Already deleted the episode so I can't go back to rewatch.

...sorry Peter. Crank up the voltage!
What did he call it, unpleasant? That does not seem to describe the experience very accurately.
What WAS that thing anyway, some centipede? With "roots" going all the way up the IV drip, it is a mighty aggressive parasite. In the end, they revealed that he had deliberately infected himself to get the "little Hill" information. He came so close to dying, I can't believe that anyone would have taken such a long-shot chance. I didn't see any chance of an exit if the team had failed--he just would have died.

I really enjoy this show because of the characters as well. I just don't understand why they have to make the pseudo-science so incredibly awful and unrealistic. I thought the whole shtick about the gunshot destroying the part of the brain that processes horizontal lines was just about the stupidest and pointless thing I've ever seen in a show. They could have done the drama of not getting the full message a million better ways. Also the brain doesn't need just electricity to work, it needs oxygen, and nutrients as well. It would have been much more plausible to have explained that, and then hooked up the dead guy to a heart/lung machine as well as the electrodes.

Yeah but then they would have just brought him back over at Massive Dynamic or something.

I think the whole loyalty comment in the prison takes care of that

This is The John Noble Show as far as I am concerned.
The premise of the whole show is unbelievable, the plots are way overdone, and even the character of Walter is too off the grid. Without John Noble's selling the whole shebang this show would be 100% unwatchable.
He is just extraordinarily enjoyable to watch- the dialogue he is given is laughable but he pulls it off and makes the character real. Fantastic job.

Am I the only one that thought the parasite looked like lobster tails?
Where the German love interest seemed to slow down the episode, I have the feeling we haven't seen the last of him, and that he's not necessarily a good guy.
John Noble is hands down the absolute best thing about this show.

I just hope he doesn't try to set himself and his son on fire and then have to be stopped by hobbitts. That's so cliche.

He doesn't have blond hair, blue eyes, and a square jaw, so he's not a traitor!

I really thought this was one of the worst eps of this show. Left me scratching my head wondering what I just saw....just so much disjointed and jumbled...

And the rest of them made complete sense?? :D
No, I agree though.
I even went searching in a couple other forums for some sort of explanation why anyone would go to such an extreme just to get information.
Who would voluntarily do that to themselves?
And even after that trust Walter to get it off you?
And transporting the guy from the hospital to Walter's lair with a heart open to air??
What hospital (and even Broyle) would allow that? That would require higher up approval and red tape and time.
And that was the fastest trip to Germany and back in the history of television. She couldn't have beamed over there any faster.
Yeah, the list of unbelievable things on this show is infinite...

Yes, don't get me wrong; I still like the show. But this ep just seemed very convoluted.

I love the show.
Or more correctly- I love watching John Noble wrangle believability out of a giant pile of crap. I am mesmerized by his talent.
But both it and Life on Mars are based on goofball ideas and are 100% (IMO) character driven shows. Without almost perfect casting in the primary roles they would be utter dung, and I think they both pretty much scored knock outs with their casting.
I just hope this isn't the next wave of television, as I would imagine it takes a fair bit of luck to pull off. Or money to attract (super) A list actors.

I'm sure his wife/girlfriend new the antidote and would have administered it herself if it'd come down to that.
