I have a series 2 tivo that is upgraded with a 160 gig hard drive.
The S-video port is not functioning, and peoples faces seem to have a orange to red tint to it. So i purchased another series 2 80 gig off ebay.
Can I move my old hard drive into the new tivo and retain my recordings?

No..sorry it can't be done as you will have to do a clear and delete all before the TiVo will work, the service number (of the E-Bay TiVo) has to sync to the new drive.

Ah crap...
If I turn off service on the old tivo, I should be able to access the recordings right?

The recordings are encrypted, and can only be played back on the same unit on which they were recorded.
If you have the Tivo networked, you should be able to transfer the shows to a PC and then back to the other unit.

If you mean just play back the recordings on the original unit, the answer is yes. An unsubscribed unit will let you play back any recordings already on the unit, and watch live TV using the buffer for pause/rewind.

Ok thanks.
For some reason the TIVO server software can't transfer the shows.
But I think i will just leave it hooked up and watch what shows are on there untill i just don't care anymore.
