I have a Series 2 Tivo model TCD540140. I had previously upgraded it with a Weaknees add on Seagate DB 35.3 drive kit. It has worked great for 1 year. I am now losing the original hard drive (I believe since the other hard drive is basically new) so I decided to get an identical Seagate DB 35.3 to replace the original drive as well. I now have it installed, set up and working, but it is not seeing the original add-on drive. I have tried all the settings for the jumpers including both drives on CS, 1 master/1 slave, 1 CS/1 slave. None of those make a difference. So the question is; How can I once again use my add on drive like I did with the original drive? The original drive immediately saw the add on drive, I cant figure out why the new drive doesnt see it. Is that configuration even possible? I thought I had done my homework, what am I missing here? Thanks for any information in advance and for helping me out!

You need to run mfsadd so the A drive will see the additional space offered by the B drive. You will lose any recordings on the B drive but it will increase the storage capacity over both drives. The only caveat is if you used mfsadd to expand the A drive without including the B drive in the command then you may have to start over. The Weaknees upgrade drive worked because it was setup to allow the other drive to recognize the added partitions when you installed the drive, most likely with the use of BlessTiVo.

I now have my A-drive up and running. I simply changed both drives to Cable Select and it installed the A-drive. Problem now is that the system is not seeing the B-drive (which was the 1 year old add on drive).
I have no recordings to save on my B-drive so that is of no concern. Do I understand correctly that I only need to get mfsadd and use it with my A-drive and format it on my computer? Or do I need to have them both hooked to the same IDE channel as I have read somewhere else?
Bottom line, I am up and running now but just on one drive, I just need to add a drive to my new A-drive. Thanks for any help!!

You will need to connect both the A and B drive to your computer. Then you will need to run mfsadd to add the B drive to the A drive. Go to mfslive.org for the tools and detailed instructions.

Just wanted everyone to know that this remedy worked like a charm and it was very easy to do. Thanks!
