Hello all, I just joined this forum. I am about average with computers so please dumb it down for me if you can. I have a Pioneer 810hs Tivo. I purchased a new higher capacity hard drive off of ebay a few months ago (The company is no longer in business). It was a maxtor 320G. I sent out my original hard drive to them and they copied my programs on to the new drive. I installed the new drive and everything worked great. Unfortunatley as I fill this new drive my Tivo is telling me that I don't have enough space on the drive to record new programs. The new drive has much more capacity so I know it cannot be full. I am assuming my Tivo machine still thinks it has the old drive's capacity and is not recognizing the new one. Does anyone know if I am able to fix this issue. I would appreciate any help I can get.

First thing to check would be the System Information screen (under Messages and Settings). It will show your current recording capacity there.
Next, are you marking a lot of shows "Keep Until I Delete" (KUID, i.e., the green dot)? If so, that affects how the TiVo calculates free space for future recordings and usually has the effect you are describing.

Thank you for your reply. I have checked the recording capacity under System Information. It shows the same capacities I had before I installed the new drive. I assumed that when I installed the new , larger, drive the System Info capacities would increase accordingly. And, yes, of the 50+ hours of recorded programs, all of them are marked KUID. How does one get the Pioneer to recognize it now has a larger drive?

sounds like they copied everything to the new drive but did not expand it.

You're going to have to pull the drive and run mfsadd to expand the drive.

Thanks, but I really don't need any help. Really, I'm fine. I appreciate your concern, though.:D
...maybe I should think about changing my user name...
