Hmmm.
Will be interesting to see how the local NBC affiliate handles this.
They've never ran SNL because of it's "risque" content.
Farmed it out to the local CW affiliate.
They've always covered the prime time SNL specials with other programming.

Any idea what (I presume) the repeat SNL will be......or will it be maybe an election clip thing or something like that?????

Interesting. If you happen to catch what they do, I'd be interested to hear about it. I'm not often exposed to situations like this, so my curiousity is purely personal.

They didn't give any additional data. sorry.

Well, they aired SNL.
Either they didn't have enough warning to find something to replace it with,
or didn't have 90 minutes of filler, if it had been a 2 hour special they could have thrown in a movie,
or due to the political season, decided to go ahead and show it.
Or, since it was a rerun (?) they had time to go over it with a fine tooth comb.
I think I saw something about another prime time election special on Monday.

I'm still surprised they can overwrite it at all if they wish. Thanks for the followup.

Just got confirmation they are airing the special tonight as well.
Must be the political thing, and they surely wouldn't not take advantage of a ratings elephant during sweeps.

This is a matter of Federal law, going back to the Golden Age of Radio. NBC can't force their affiliate to carry "SNL"...
(e) Right to reject programs. No license shall be granted to a television broadcast station having any contract, arrangement, or understanding, express or implied, with a network organization which, with respect to programs offered or already contracted for pursuant to an affiliation contract, prevents or hinders the station from:
(1) Rejecting or refusing network programs which the station reasonably believes to be unsatisfactory or unsuitable or contrary to the public interest, or
(2) Substituting a program which, in the station's opinion, is of greater local or national importance.
...but since the affiliate has turned it down, NBC has the right to offer "SNL" to a different station...
(b) Territorial exclusively. No license shall be granted to a television broadcast station having any contract, arrangement, or understanding, express or implied, with a network organization which prevents or hinders another broadcast station located in the same community from broadcasting the network's programs not taken by the former station, or which prevents or hinders another broadcast station located in a different community from broadcasting any program of the network organization.
