This has happen sense I got my replacement HD Tivo, When ever I record Dexter or Californacation they both automatically delete when there done(or if press stop when there recording) but when I record from Showtime or HBO without setting up a SP for shows(I haven't tested this out on said shows but other shows I watch) they don't delete.

Why is this happening?

If by "automatically delete" you mean "automatically ask you if you want to delete them", when you stop a recorded program within a couple minutes of the end, you'll get the prompt to delete the program -- but can still elect to keep it. If you stop a recorded program before the end, you are prompted to keep it -- but can still elect to delete it.

I don't think your SP vs. non-SP theory has anything to do with it.

I agree with stevevt, but I think there is one scenario that might change this. If you are watching live TV and you tell it to record, but never go back to the now playing list and start the recording (just keep watching it from live), I don't think it will prompt you to delete. I could be wrong.

If by "automatically delete" you mean "automatically ask you if you want to delete them", Nope it doesn't even ask me, it just automatically deletes the program(after it's done recording) and it doesn't even show up in my recently deleted folder.

Sounds like your cable company is setting the copy protection bit to 0x03.

0x03 - Copy Never - the content can be recorded and viewed for 90 minutes after transmission, and is not transferrable. Content disappears from the Now Playing list after 90 minutes.

What he said.

Federal law prohibits your provider from using "copy never" on any non-PPV channel, so it is a configuration error on their end.

I would verify the copy protection is 0x03 as explained in the link. Then call your cable company.
