Hi,
I have a new TivoHD, which I installed and setup less than a week ago. All of a sudden, while watching the World Sereis last night, approx 9:30PM EST, my TivoHD went into a service update reboot. Boy, was I pissed. So after about 20 mins or so, its back up, then again it goes into a service update reboot.

Why does this happen during ptime time? Can this be done at 2-3am or so or at least give the user the option to "reboot now or later" like PCs do.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Does this have anything to do with being a newly installed unit? Is there a way for me to schedule these reboots as to when they occur?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Updates with newer software versions should occur at 2-3am, but that may not have been true with the ~Jan 2007 software that originally shipped with the box.

I guess you weren't recording the World Series?

Mine went into the Emergency Broadcast mode, when I was recording it.... Thankfully, that was on 30 seconds or so - not quite as prolong as a reboot.

The standard policy is that this will happen at 2AM. Don't know why, but tivo's have never had a prompt (there are lots of threads here complaining about similar).

HOWEVER, if the upgrade has been downloaded (so the box is in "Pending Restart"), any reboot will install the upgrade. So, if the box crashed for some random reason, as it restarts, it will notice the upgrade is present, and install it, even if it's during prime time.
