When I first hooked up my Tivo HD XL with HDMI yesterday, I was not getting any audio out of it to the tv. I assumed that my tv only did DVI and no audio thru the HDMI, so I decided that I should pull the tv to run RCA cables cables to it, and right before I went to hit the power button on the tv, the audio cut in.
So I left it the way it was and started messing around, downloading updates and such. Halfway through the updates while I was scrolling through the menus, the audio cut out again.
My next guess was that the HDMI cable was sub-par. I hooked the audio up to my Aiwa receiver using the optical audio connector to see if it was getting audio. It was getting audio at that point, but so was the tv. The audio kicked back in. I just left it.
After changing channels for a bit, the audio cut out again right in the middle of a tv show to both the tv and the receiver.
I restarted the tivo and the audio came back, but went out again later.
When the audio goes out, it goes out for random amounts of time and I can't figure out what causes it to go out, nor what causes it to resume as normal.
This morning I cleared and reset everything and ran Guided setup again. It's still happening.
Does it sound like this one defective?
