teacherspet,

I believe that the reason that you have not gotten many replies to this post is due to the fact that with your sentence structure, poor grammer and spelling errors it is very difficult to understand what your problem is. Let me try to summarize, and you can correct me if I'm wrong:

You have a TiVo HD (serial number of 652xxxxx).

Your program source is Comcast Cable without cablecards.

You have the TiVo connected to an HD TV, using HDMI cables.

Everything is working fine, except for Channel 2. On that channel you hear a "bell ringing". Could you explain what you mean by that? Are you getting audio on the channel, with the sound of a bell included with it? Do you get video for this channel? Is it a constant ringing, or just the periodic sound of a bell?

I'm not sure why you thought a low-pass filter would work, but that doesn't sound like a solution.

You say that Channel 2 is your most watched station. That is unusual for Comcast to use that channel for a heavily used station since it is subject to a lot of interference from OTA Channel 2. Do you have an OTA station in your area that is using Channel 2?

Channel 2 is Comcast's local NBC channel here. I don't know what OTA means.

The TiVo tech told me to try a low-pass filter because he did that on his own TiVo and it helped him.

The ringing sounds like an alarm or weather alert. It occurs intermittently. The channel works fine: clear picture and good sound. The noise comes on along with the regular sound and lasts a few seconds to five minutes. This happens on and off all day long.

This only occurs when the TV is hooked up to the TiVo. When I have the cable run straight into the TV (by pass), I have no problem.

Thanks, that clarified the problem much better.

OTA is over-the-air, meaning the channels that you would receive with an antenna. If the cable company provides NBC on channel 2, and the OTA channel is also channel 2 you could get some interference, especially if you are within 15-20 miles of the tower. However, that doesn't sound like the problem here.

Does this problem happen with recordings from this channel, or only when watching it live (thru Tivo)? If it happens with recordings also, is it consistant when playing the recording back multiple times (indicating the sound was recorded from the input), or is it sporadic, happening at different times in the recording (indicating it is a playback issue)?
