I'm sure this has been thrashed out here but I can't find the post I need with how-to details for my work-around.
I have a single-tuner Series 2 (Toshiba HD-S400, yup, lifetime basic service) and recently pulled it out of the closet after a few years of paying Cox Cable for too many bells and whistles.
I now have Cox Cable "standard cable" and "digital cable".....period.

Turns out I got rather comfortable with watching one channel while recording another and want to split the signal as it comes in if that will do it.
Is there a how-to in here for two possibilities?
-- Digital cable box, Tivo, TV
-- Digital cable box, Tivo, DVD recorder

TiVo has installation guides on their website that cover both of those. See How Do I Set Up My Single Tuner DVR (http://www.tivo.com/setupandsupport/technicalsupport/setupmytivodvr/How_Do_I_Set_Up_My_Single_Tuner_DVR_.html).

Your best bet is to split upstream of the cable box and run one to the cable box and the other directly to the RF input of the television. That will give you all basic cable (analog) channels to watch live and all channels, analog and digital to record from.
