That is just plain scary. He's got that same Sylar evil look.
It's gonna be good. :)

Funny, I thought Zachary Quinto was playing Spock.

Sylar's a fictional character on a TV show (who also happens to be played by Zachary Quinto).

Yeah, right....

I guess you think that Larry David is just a character on "Curb your enthusiasm" too.

I can't get the "next photo" link to work...

I like the cast choices that I've seen. I'm not enthusiastic about JJ Abrams.

When Kirk puts on his yellow shirt, he's going to look like Aquaman. ;)

Is Spock choking Kirk?

Not everyone reads the "Happy Hour" forum. I don't. Besides, the TV forum is better place for this info since the actor in question appears on a tv show.

Whoever it is that Spocklar is choking in that pic, he's sure showing a lot more emotion that a Vulcan should, isn't he?

Looks like Spock is evil, and displaying way too much emotion for a Vulcan.

He can't be evil, he doesn't have a goatee.

Here is an even better one. It's scary how much he looks like Nimoy in this one.

He's only half vulcan and obviously hasn't overcome his human half at this age.

Love him or hate him as Sylar, I do have to say that the casting on this was absolutely spot on in terms of looks. I have a feeling that he's actually going to pull it off too. :)

He's only half vulcan and obviously hasn't overcome his human half at this age. It's been established (since TOS, in fact) that Vulcans are actually more emotional than humans. Their logic is a mental discipline, not an inherited trait.

And Romulans are like Vulcans without any self-control. Must be the Ale!!

Sylar could have duplicated someone's illusion control or shapeshifting ability. This doesn't bode well for Starfleet.

Seriously though, the portrayal is remarkable. I had a feeling it would be when I heard he was cast for the part. The only reservation I have is that he seems so young. I know the cast is supposed to be young, but I believe Spock is supposed to be a little older than Kirk.

Then again, an aspect of having Spock this young can make the character interesting in a new way. He could be portrayed as having a harder time resolving his human and vulcan halfs, not being as experienced in controlling emotions.

Spock is around the same age as Kirk, but he's also half Vulcan, so he ages differently. Looking physically younger actually makes sense.

We get Entertainment Weekly and when I read this week's mag with the Star Trek stuff, I have to say I know this will work. Nimoy himself was a key figure in singing off on Quinto as Spock.

Let me see if I Can find the article online and post the key quotes.

Ok.......

Here's a link to the article: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20233502,00.html?iid=top25-20081020-%27Star+Trek%27+movie%3A+Inside+scoop%21

Here's the key quotes:

The new Spock came next, though Zachary Quinto had been all but knocking on the door for months. During the first season of Heroes, Quinto, 31, campaigned for the part by repeatedly expressing interest in it while doing press for his show. ''I saw it as a career opportunity, but I also saw it as a creative opportunity, too,'' he says. ''I have a real interest in where this character lives. I really relate to the duality of a logical mind and an emotional sensibility.'' Quinto prepped intensely for his tryout, even binding his fingers with rubber bands to train his hand for the live-long-and-prosper salute. He secured the role soon after Nimoy viewed his audition tape. ''I could see Zach had an internal life as an actor, which is important to the Spock character, because there's so little to show physically,'' Nimoy says. ''I called J.J. and immediately told him he was going to work.''
