"Very damaged! Zathras can never have anything NICE."
Movie sequels happen all the time. Sometimes (rarely), they're planned in advance, and sometimes they work. I think it's even rarer for sequel episodes of TV series to come along.
So here we have Babylon Squared. JMS planned to make a sequel sometime down the line, but in the process came cast changes beyond his control. Yet, he was able to pull it all together and make it work, EXTREMELY well. There were some continuity errors here and there, but overall, it turned out great. And it's in two parts, so there's still more to come. :)
I do apologize for not posting yesterday. I had jury duty that I ended up having to ask for a postponement for due to my wife having an epileptic seizure the evening before. She's fine now. I actually think this will work out pretty well anyway, I can watch these episodes two days in a row.
Of course, many of you have likely not been able to wait and watched Part 2 right away. Oh well.
- Minbar looks like Naboo. Or should I say, Naboo looks like Minbar.
- The actor playing Rathenn in the opening scene is named Time Winters and just looks WEIRD. He's the strangest-looking Minbari I think we've seen.
- As he comes aboard B5, it turns out that Sinclair knows Zack. It's just like Chekov knowing Khan! Because he never forgets a face, of course.
- It's been 8 days since the last Shadow attack.
- Sheridan knew Sinclair during the Mars riots.
- ZATHRAS! WOO!
- Sinclair is Ranger One.
- It's a good thing Ivanova switched to the external cameras when she was about to die, but why did they switch back?
- Babylon 4 was used a thousand years ago to help defeat the Shadows.
- The White Star stopped the allies of the Shadows from destroying Babylon 4 as it was nearing completion.
- The Great Machine is enlarging the rift in Sector 14, large enough for the White Star to go through.
- "I'll be in the car."
- "Zathras good at doings, not understandings."
- Sinclair doesn't want Garibaldi involved, or to even know what is going on. The password for the video, btw, was "Hello, old friend", the greeting Sinclair used on the last video he sent Garibaldi.
- "Well, as my Great Grandfather used to say: 'Cool.'"
- Here she goes again: "J-o-o-o-ohn!" I still wish Mira Furlan had said this to Locke just once on Lost. :(
- "Very damaged! Zathras can never have anything NICE."
- Sheridan is sent not only in time, but in space, to the future, on Centauri Prime. Londo is old, and seems to have a grudge against Sheridan, who he blames for some recent attack on Centauri Prime.
- Centauri Prime (or at very least, the city Londo is in) is on fire and generally in waste after the attack.
- "Zathras is used to being beast of burden to other peoples' needs. Very sad life. Probably have very sad death. But, at least there is symmetry."
What I really want to know after watching this episode is, was Sheridan PHYSICALLY moved to the future, or has his essence been moved forward like the people on Babylon 4 were in Babylon Squared? Obviously he disappeared off the White Star, but Londo must have already captured him in the future. Either that or there's a sequence we didn't see leading up to him being brought to Londo.
Anyway, more about all this stuff tomorrow when I post for Part 2. I just love these episodes!
