Web video conversion to .mpg for Tivo bitrate question?

Is there any benefit to choosing a higher bitrate for the converted file than the bitrate of the original file when converting web video to .mpg for use on Tivo S2D2? i.e. if the original is apporx. 2000 kbps, will choosing higher that 2000 kbps for the converted file help anything?
