Okay, basically here is the problem. I reset my tivo, intending to use it in my dorm at college. I need to register the MAC address to use the tivo, and annoyingly the IT won't give me that simple information. So here is the situation:

*I have no phone line.
*My tivo has been reset and is stuck on guided set up (I think i can solve the problem if I can get past this)
*My tivo wont' let me get to the settings menu without having it connect to either a phone line or ethernet line
*I am using the Compact USB 2.0 Network adapter (model number is USB200M) for my Series 2 tivo.

Any help would be appreciated, and the sooner the better.

You have the MAC address, it is on the adapter, on a label.

I do not see it on mine.

Oh, on the back of the adapter? i'll try that out.

If the MAC isn't found on the adapter itself, hook it up to a computer and look in the network settings.

the mac contains letters that aren't A-F. I dont' know if this is okay for normal mac addresses or not, but if this is the mac address then i need a way to change it. If not, im still having problems finding it. I tried hooking it up to my computer but its vista and its having troubles i think.

MAC addresses consist of numbers 0-9 and letters A-F so that's probably a serial number or something else.

MAC address, generally, can't be changed. A router can be configured to mimick or clone a MAC address but I digress.

Please state the neeed to change your MAC address. I'm not clear about your situation.
