Right now, my two TiVo Series 3 units are recording CSI Miami, and its in Spanish?!? As soon as I noticed I started recording CSI Miami also on my Comcast Motorola HD DVR and that is normal (English). Anyone have any idea what is going on here? Also the sound becomes tinny at times on CBS tonight I noticed on How I Met Your Mother...
Any ideas?
9/23 update:
Am on with support right now.
However, I am noticing some things. CBS (this is in Chicago) has 2 options for audio tracks on LiveTV:
1. Language Unknown (ENG) - Dolby Digital
2. English - Dolby Digital
On LiveTV, these are the options, and there is no sound unless option 1 is selected. But option 2 always is selected by default.
All the other HD channels have 2 options:
1. English - Dolby Digital
2. Spanish - Dolby Digital
It seems that Comcast is somehow sending out some incorrect info, though there seems to be no problem through the Comcast Motorola DVR.

Have you tried selecting an alternate audio track from the channel banner? It's possible there will be an alternate one there that is in english.

Thanks for that suggestion but when I first checked, there were two options, one which said something about Dolby (ENG) and another that said Dolby 5.1 English (as I recall, they weren't there long). I tried each and it didn't make a difference. Then I backtracked to the beginning of the program and now it says "No Alternate Audio Tracks available." So not sure where those other two options went to...but still in Spanish. Bizarre.

I remember a few years ago when I recorded the Superbowl on my VCR, it recorded it in Spanish...

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing since yesterday. How I Met Your Mother recorded fine, but the audio became tinny...everything after that has been screwed up. CSI: Miami recorded in Spanish. NCIS recorded with the audio track for the visually impaired. Letterman is on right now with no audio.
In the case of the shows that had already recorded (CSI and NCIS), there was nothing I could do because it only recorded the one audio track. With Letterman I can change the audio to the SAP and that gives me regular english audio.
This is probably Comcast's punishment to those of us that use cablecards.
Anyway, if you get any results from support, let us know...I'd like to know if there's anything I can do aside from having to watch the show live so I can turn the SAP on.

This is Obama's plan to get us to speak more than one language! Chicago you say?

It should be recording the data directly as it receives it so it shouldn't "lose" the audio track for digital channels. What you have selected by default doesn't dictate which audio track it records afaik.
It sounds like there is an issue with the local cbs not passing the audio tracks correctly and TiVos fault tolerance might not be as good as the cable boxes.

I wish it worked that way, but my Tivo, at least, only records the selected audio track. If you try to change the audio of a recorded program, it doesn't do anything, if it even gives you the option. You can easily see this with live TV. Change the audio track to spanish, then rewind to before you changed the audio. It will be in English until it reaches the point where you changed the audio...

Nope. The sound was screwed up on their DVR as well. It's really annoying, and I hope they get a handle on this situation soon. I tried watching "The Big Bang Theory" on my S3 last night, and it was even more messed up that "How I Met Your Mother". The only thing you could hear was the laugh track. :(

Same problem as you. Is it because CBS just moved into new studios in Chicago on Monday and proclaimed they are now all HD. Wife's daily soap opera on CBS recorded where English followed by Spanish dubbing was recorded. Is it a Comcast problem or a CBS problem. On Tuesday wifes soap recorded just fine with no changes.

Since that first night I noted no problems on subsequent CBS shows, but I have only watched CSI: NY.and perhaps a few others since then. No other issues noted though. However, unlike gweempose, while my TiVo recorded CSI Miami in Spanish, the Comcast DVR recorded it properly in English.
On that Monday I did put a call into the Comcast technical support "CableCard Team" and left a voicemail describing the problem, but that probably had nothing to do with it.
