Receiver Turn Off When I Press "Select"

When I press the "Select" button the Tivo remote control my Denon AVR-1803 Receiver always turns off. It's driving me crazy. I tried using a different Tivo remote control from another old box I used to have and it does the same thing. It doesn't seem to matter which codes I use to program the remote control(s) to work with my TV and other components. Anyone have any suggestions?

Strangely, this didn't start happening until I moved the components to another part of the room. I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

It sounds like IR interference. First you should go on a wild remote hunt - check around for a stray remote that might be stuck in a couch cushion and sending an interfering signal.

Otherwise, check your batteries and, that failing, build an IR tent. This should eliminate stray IR interference caused by flourescent lighting or another rogue remote.

Also don't forget the TiVo and its remote can be set to a different set of remote pulses, which may not affect the other unit.

You say you've tried other codes for other devices, but have you changed the remote code for the TiVo itself?

Thanks to both of you... I don't think it's a stray remote or other interference. I'm not sure what an IR tent is, but I'll look into it and try it if gastof's idea of changing the Tivo's codes doesn't work (I haven't tried that -- I just tried changing the codes for the TV and the receiver). How does one change the Tivo codes? In the set-up area Tivo only gives three choices (TV, receiver, or source / input). There isn't an option of changing the Tivo's codes. Where / how would I do that?

Thanks. I tried all nine codes and none helped, unfortunately. So I tried the "IR Tent" thing and that seems to help a little bit. But I think I just need to get a new receiver.
