I trying to buy time as I know that the HR10-250 are a dying breed, but mine died tonight. Since I'm no longer in a term period with Directv, I trying to stay open with my 10-250 by putting the best $ into it. So I took the 160g drive out of a SD TiVo DVR, downloaded Instant Cake 6.3f for the 10-250 and made a "New" drive. My 10-250 is still broke on the "Welcome. Powering up..." So can a 160g drive work in a 10-250 or does this need to be larger?

Side note just a thought of mine. If I took the swap I'm locked for another 2 years right? Which could be bad if I decide to go ATT UVerse when it offered to me.

You need a drive the same size or larger than the stock drive. The HR10-250 model came only with a 250GB drive, so you will need one at least that big.

Ok I was just using something smaller in the mean time.

Not something I wanted to hear :(

Thanks for the info.

Well I found out later that the 160g drive was bad very bad. The bios of a computer would see ok, but you couldn't fdisk or low level format it so it's dead. It could have been trouble also as I just felt it would work but with fewer hours, well I'm not sure now?
