We recently purchase an HD TV, we have the Humax series 2 tivo (with DVD recorder) and just replaced our old cable box with the DVR from comcast so we could record more than one channel at a time. Is there a way to connect Tivo to the HD TV with an HDMI cable for better picture quality (some sort of adapter for Tivo). The comcast DVR has HDMI - but I don't think we connect the coax to Tivo, then Tivo to the DVR, then DVR to the TV. I'm not really interested in switching to HD Tivo at this time. Can someone make a recommendation. Thank you.

While equipment does exist to upconvert non-HDMI components to HDMI , IMHO you are wasting your money. Even with HDMI-equipped TiVo units there is no discernible (to the majority of people) difference betweeen HDMI and Component.

If your Comcast-supplied DVR has HDMI, you can certainly use that to connect this DVR to the TV, though I recommend going with Component instead. More cables, but fewer complications arising from HDCP handshaking. Search through the threads and you will find many people who have had this little "surprise" when connecting their HDMI-equipped TiVo units to a HDTV.

I believe the Humax DVD TiVo units have Component outputs; just use these to connect to the TV. If they don't have this connection, then use s-video.

Unless your Humax unit has a pass-thru RF connection (most non-TiVo DVD recorders do, I don't know about the TiVo ones), you will need to split the cable, one to the Humax, and the other to the cableco's DVR.
