I am looking at a new receiver that will accept HDMI in and out. Ideally I would like to run HDMI from my TiVo HD (and PS3) to the receiver and a single HDMI outfrom the receiver to my Sharp 52D64U LCD.

Unfortunately, the receiver will not pass HDMI in from the TiVo to the Sharp when powered down. Often I will watch TV using the Sharp's more than adequate internal speakers and not use the receiver.

So in addition to the setup mentioned above, I would also like to run component and audio L & R from the TiVo to the Sharp (about 8'-10' run), but have read more than a few inconclusive posts that this would be problematic, due to the simultaneous output from the TiVo.

The component would be in use when the receiver is powered down, and HDMI when using the receiver.

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but the Tivo HD outputs signal in all the outputs all the time. I have HDMI out to the TV and the component/audio out to my slingbox. Everything works fine.

I also have the HDMI and component outs connected on my S3 (HDMI to the television, component to the DVD burner). I have not encountered any handshake/HDCP problems when burning a recording to DVD (and also watching it on the TV).

My concern came from these threads:

I don't have the problem of component output being limited by an incomplete HDMI negotiation but I have read others have. It likely depends on your equipment and how they implemented HDMI negotiations and how it is treated when the display is turned off.

Mostly it is people using Slingbox that notice it because they very often connect component to the Slingbox with HDMI to the TV, receiver, of video processor. Your situation has the potential to see the problem, but it is not assured either way. You are going to need to try it out.

Maybe it was fixed in an update, but since I never had the problem, I couldn't comment.

Ever since the latest update I can't make any recordings of the Lifetime shows for my girlfriend unless the HDMI connection is disconnected. It says something like viewing isn't permitted(when using the composite/svideo output).
So I have the HDMI output of the TiVoHD going through a manual HDMI switch box. With nothing on one of the inputs. So I just switch to the empty input, then I am able to get a picture from the composite and Svideo output going into my DVD burner.

Prior to the last update this only occurred from the pay channels like HBO, but since the update it happens for everything, non local channels.

I have aTivoHD and use component and HDMI to simultaneously feed a projector (Component) and RPTV (HDMI). Never had any problem, but I don't feed HDMI to a receiver.
