I recent put a new power supply in my HR10-250 and fired it back up after it being down for about a year.

Now I notice that I have no local channels at all over Satellite...(HD or otherwise)

Did they go away even in SD?

Software version 6.3a

Thanks!

They should come in after awhile. Not sure why they don't come in immediately, but I have found in the past when I replaced a hard drive, sometimes they didn't show up until the next day. They're up there though -- in SD only of course on the HR10.

You can speed up the process by logging in to your directv.com account and finding the "refresh my services" (or something like that) option. Chances are, though, that by the time you read this the SD locals will be back. As videojanitor says, no HD locals for you.

Indeed you are all correct, they did show up overnight. Thinking that they were gone for good, had me actually dig out an old set of rabbit ears, hook them up to the DVR and set them out on the window ledge. I actually live within direct line of sight of the giant TV/Radio tower on twin peaks, and was surprised when the DVR showed "No Signal", during the re-setup to get the OTA locals.

So I plugged the little antennae into my brand new HD TV directly, and lo and behold, there were all kinds of channels in glorious HD..

So I plugged the Antennae back into my DVR, and just ignored the signal warnings, and most of them come in, but certainly not all.

So I guess the tuner in the Cheap Westinghouse 42 HD TV ($699 Costco) I have has a dramatically better tuner in it.

This should do though, until the new DirecTivos are released.

Don't you have to go back through some sort of setup and/or scan for offair channels?

The DVR does not seem "scan" for them the way a TV does during setup, because it sure did not seem to find any signal on the OTA Test...

Some of them do however come in OK, thru the program guide, even tho the signal strength was reported to be non existant at Zero.

You do need to tell the DVR during a "re-setup" that you desire the OTA to be used.

Yes, the OTA tuner in the HR10 isn't very good. It's a 2003 design.
