I have a kind of strange question regarding Wish Lists.
With the Ryder Cup starting on Friday, I want to record all the matches and have them go into one folder named "Ryder Cup 2008". So I set up an auto-record Wish List with the proper name and keywords, and canceled anything that matched that I didn't want.
So far so good. Now for the problem. For Friday and Saturday, the matches are split up in the program guide into more than one show. I don't know why they did this, but they did. I want to add 3 extra hours to the end of the last show, in case it goes long.
Here's the problem: If I set up the options for the Wish List to record 3 extra hours, it will do that for each of the shows, and that will cause havoc, since there's 3 shows back-to-back-back, on Friday and Saturday.
So I tried changing the options for the last show on Friday and Saturday to record 3 extra hours. The problem with that is, it is no longer marked as a Wish List recording (with a star). Instead, it is shown as an individual recording. This means that even though it will appear in my Wish List folder, it will also appear outside of the folder. And I'm trying to get everything inside one folder. (I know, but I'm anal...)
Anyone got any ideas for how to handle this? My workaround for right now is to cancel the last show on Friday and Saturday, and the single show on Sunday. Then I created a second Wish List called "Ryder Cup 2008 2", with the same keywords as the other Wish List. I set it to auto-record, and record 3 extra hours. I placed it just below the other one, in the Seasons Pass list. And near as I can tell, it looks like it will leave the other shows alone, and record the last show on Friday and Saturday, and the single show on Sunday, with the extra 3 hours. Unfortunately this means I will have two folders instead of one, but that doesn't bother me as much as the other alternatives.
Whew. I know this was long. If anyone has any suggestions for a better way to handle this, please post them!
Dan
PS: I'm guessing that custom folder management is on the way, since TiVo just announced the TiVoHDXL. If they're releasing a product with that much storage, custom folders are a must. So in the long run, this may be a moot point. But until then, I want to get it as close to what I want as possible.
