View Full Version : TiVo HD w/MSD Lifetime - Selling Old Unit?

Did some searches but didn't find an exact answer. Tried to call TiVo but they are closed for the night, I think. Wish this was easier to figure out on my own, but I don't have a bachelors in TiVo pricing
I currently have a Series 2 TiVo that I have lifetime service on. I just bought an HDTV so I want to upgrade to the TiVo HD. I intend on purchasing lifetime service for the TiVo HD as well. The website tells me I am eligible for Multi Service discount and that lifetime would be $299.
If I purchase lifetime for $299 and then sell the existing S2, what happens to both subscriptions? Do I have to keep the old S2 on my account (and connecting) in order to avoid an additional $100 charge or something?
My hope is that I can just buy lifetime for $299, activate the unit, and then sell the series 2 with it's lifetime sub. Is this the case?
Thanks!
(Kicking myself for not getting in on the Woot deal now that I see Refurbs from tivo are not MSD eligible!)

Your plan will work fine. They can't come back and say "Pony up another Benjamin" once you sell the S2.

The key is don't let them know that is your plan. So far only the three of us know about it. You can trust me, but you might want to keep an eye on rocko. Definitely DO NOT TELL ANYONE ELSE!

Crap. I already told my wife. She can't be trusted.
