So I've got a Tivo HD and I'm thinking of upgrading using WinMFS and I figure I'd ask. Since my Tivo currently works fine with a pair of Cable Cards does WinMFS copy that information over so I don't have to call Comcast after this upgrade? (I'd expect that's true but come on, headaches with cable cards are a daily thing:D )

Oh, I might as well ask what's the difference between wd10evcs and wd10eacs? (I mean I know the evcs is the DVR drive but what's that mean anyway?)

Oh, one last question.(I promise this time.) The faq says copying all my old shows can take hours to days. I think my 160 GB drive is nearly full. Does it really take that long to copy it?

Your cable card info is transferred over, no problem.

Jasper is correct, the CC info comes over in the copy, so there is no need to call Comcast.

I have an S3 and I did a full copy to preserve my shows, the drive was full at the time, it took about 4 hours to do the copy. I think the reason they put such a big window on the copy time is because it depends a lot on how full your Tivo drive is, and how good the computer is that you are using for the backup. A computer that is, oh let's say, less than 3 years old.... Should be able to do the transfer in hours rather than days.

Thanks for the help. (When it comes to CC it pays to be cautious.) I was kind of taken back by the possible copy times. (I mean any time I see any copy that takes "days" it catches my attention.) Fortunately my PC is new so guess it'll be a few hours.

Oh, I take it the difference between those drives is mainly one won't work in the S3 but will in an HD and the other will work in both. (Plus some minor issues.)
