I've read a few threads where various posters have referred to the H22 @ Best Buy or wherever. Is this box worth purchasing, or should I simply get the free upgrade from DTV, which I presume will be the 21 (or even the 20)? I am currently employing a couple of 10-250s.
Also, will my distant networks transfer? I got waivers for them way back when.
Thanks.
The only advantage to the 22 that i know of is the 500 GB drive.

some reports of getting a hr22 with an install. but is no guarantee even if asking the csr.
i would get the free upgrade and you might get hr22. if you dont you can add a 1tb drive for $150-200 instead of paying for the hr22 @ $199 each from bb

If you need more capacity (roughly double) over the HR20/21 boxes and either can't or don't want to add an external HD to replace your internal one, the HR22 is worth it. If you are okay adding an external drive and enclosure to replace the internal drive, just get a free delivery and see if you get lucky. The odds are small they will deliver an HR22 but not impossible. Or, if even the double capacity is not adequate you will definitely have to get an external 1T drive and in that case there is zero upside to the HR22, since the external drive replaces the internal one anyway. You can get a 1T drive online for about the same as the retail cost of the HR22.
In every regard except the HD size, the HR22 is an HR21.
In my case I got DirecTV to offset all the cost of my buying the HR22 locally with credits so it was a wash.
