Hello Folks,

I'm about to let my TiVos go after many years service.

If I do a system reset, does TiVo destroy the VAR/HACK directory structure?

I'm afraid 'er indoors is bored with TiVo.
I now have more AppleTVs around the house than I know what to do with and sadly, with SkyHD, TiVo runs a poor second.

When my TiVos go I'll reimage the drives, so that the (hopefully) new owner gets what seems to be a brand new TiVo with none of my 'influence'.

Still not sure what you mean by 'system reset'.

AppleTV? Poof. :D

Well on the SetUp Menu there is a System Reset option with scrubs all of your recordings and gets back to guided setup. However, I would like to keep all of the bells and whistles that I've added on in /var/hack. I've copied my var/hack to a new folder under root, so that if it *does* get trashed I can at least copy it back.. unless of course.. telnet and FTP get trashed too !!

In short: no, it doesn't.

Remember however that a bunch of hacks specifically disallow you to sell them on with your TiVo (for profit or not). Notable examples are that FTP program and anything (I believe) written by 'sanderton'.
