View Full Version : DAY 2 - New Channel Line-Up: TIVO Users Held Hostage

Yesterday (09/11) Verizon FIOS Southeastern PA put their new channel line-up into effect (sometime before 6am). New channels added. Most existing channels re-located. The new channel line-up was announced in July. The effective date was announced in August. Tivo knew it was coming (or should have). So should Tribune Media.

But well into the second day and Tivo is still showing the old channel line-up. The only way to get many shows recorded is to Set Up Manual Recordings. Season Passes and individual episode recordings are still following the old channel line-up.

Now some Tivo groupies are going to say Tivo is innocent; it's Tribune Media's fault. Yes, Tribune Media should have been ready with the new line-up from day one. But I don't pay Tribune Media. I pay Tivo. So do you. So I hold them responsible to get accurate listings to me. They should have downloaded the Tribune Media have the correct new line-up ready to go and they should have scheduled special updates so everybody's box would connect to the server during the overnight period when the change-over occurred to get the new line-up. That's what we pay them for. Tivo's suppliers are not my concern. My concern is getting what I pay for and Tivo is not delivering that.

Been there, done that.

Check the Series 3 and Help forums. Get a South Jersey zipcode and use it until your area gets caught up. You're fortunate that you have a nearby market that has similar locals to tide you over until things settle down.

Held hostage? Seriously?

I've been through lineup changes as well ... usually I just use the form to report a lineup issue (http://www.tivo.com/setupandsupport/contactsupport/lineup_tool.html) and it's fixed a few days later.

Waaaahhhhh, cry me a river. BTW, you could have put this in one of the other 400 lineup change related threads.

My local Charter always gets the lineup changes to Tribune in time and the changes tend to occur on the exact day the lineup change occurs. It's all about Tribune's contact with your provider. Some areas seem to always have issues whereas my area has someone who is very diligent about giving Tribune the appropriate info.

Even when you send a lineup request to TiVo, it has to be verified by your provider. So in the end, the provider is generally the cause of these issues.

When this happened to me, I knew at least a month in advance, and notified Tivo it would be happening.

I think our lineup was fixed within a day and I credit being proactive.

I'm in SE PA and used 08055.

Works great, lineup is pretty damn close.

I tried being proactive, sent both old and new lineups. Nada.

Went the alternate zip route, and I'm back in business.
