I've got my tivo in a cabinet and want to control it by pointing at the tv across the room instead of behind me. Can I :confused:run IR control wires to the TV as an extension to control the Tivo?

There are zillions of IR extenders, both wired and wireless. Many TiVo users are very happily using them. I don't need one myself so I couldn't recommend any particular model or brand. Perhaps someone can chime in with a suggestion.

If you are speaking of the IR emitter that came with your Tivo, the answer is no. What you need is an IR extender as Rocko stated.

I have purchased Xantech equipment from Smarthome.com. I have also picked up extra emitters from them rather cheaply.

Word of caution, if you want the IR sensor near your TV, if it is LCD/Plasma/etc you may need a special receiver that is CFL/LCD proof to eliminate interference.

Regular (not plasma/LCD/CFL proof) starter kit ($99):

Hi folks, thanks to all for your replies. At least I know what I'm looking for now. I checked with a neighbor who has a pro install and he has a Souncraft extender with a mini transmitter. I'll follow the links provided here from all of you.

THANKS!!
