I got an offer from TiVo for a TiVo HD with lifetime for a total of $598.99. I'm assuming I got this offer because they wanted to move the TiVoHD they have in stock before the TiVo HD XL came out.

Does anyone know when the $598.99 deal ends? I'd like an XL, but I'm still digesting the cost of my first TiVoHD which I got back in January of this year.

Seems like normal pricing to me...
Tivo HD is $299
MSD Product Lifetime is $299
So technically if you buy your Tivo HD from somewhere else for say roughly $240 plus shipping, you get a better deal.

Hmmm.... I wonder if I got one of those "great deal from TiVo" emails that is just normal pricing. Sounds like it.

First; so you caught that the $299 Lifetime quoted is if you already have a lifetime product on your account/unless the rules have changed very recently.

Secondly, it would be a deal for you if you don't already have a lifetime product because that normal pricing would be $299 TiVo HD and $399 for the lifetime totaling $698.99.

So third, either way you can save more money if interested by buying a factory renewed TiVo HD for $179.99 and a lifetime of either $399/or $299 if required active lifetime already on your account for a total of $578.99/or $478.99

Hope this clears anything up, though you probably have already figured all this out when visiting TiVo's website. Seems you _almost_ have enough TiVo's already :)

You don't need to already have a lifetime subscription to get the MSD rate on a lifetime sub.

If you get the factory renewed HD, you don't get the MSD lifetime price of $299. In the small print on the web specials page, it notes that MSD pricing is not available on web specials.

Yes, this is the really sad part. I'm trying to justify in my mind a 4th TiVo when I only have 3 TVs in my house. Now the good news... TVs are cheap!

Folks seem to be getting around this by initially purchasing a monthly sub and then changing it over to Lifetime after a month.

I was thinking that too, but it shows the discount as an option in the shopping cart when I'm logged in. So figured that it was true. Oh well, as mentioned there are ways. :D
