I have a directv tivio from philips it is a series 2. The hard drive died so I had it replaced with a Seagate 500 gb pata/100. The mirror image was installed with the zipper program. The software ver. is 6.2-01-2-151. It also shows up on the system info screen as a Hughes Network System, series 2, HDVR 2.
I have tried every combination to get it to make a call out but it will not complete the call. The first error message said the line was busy when it was not. now it fails while negotiating. I would like to call out to get the latest software. can anyone out there please help. thanks.

Do you by any chance have DSL high speed internet?
If so, is the TiVo connected to a DSL filter?

You may also be able to connect it through your high speed since you've zippered it.

I do have dsl and the tivo is connected to a filter. I'll try to call in with out the filter.
don't know what you mean about connecting thru the high speed. I didn't do the setup
and zippering but I was told By my son that he used the zipper to install.

Does the unit have an ethernet port? If yes, it can be connected to your network.
