I did a search and could not find the answer.
My Tivo Series 2 DT is under my mother's name as I still live at home. I will be moving out next month and wanted to take the Tivo with me. Is it safe to add my name to her account, change the billing to me, and take it with me?
Other information (not sure if needed) - currently, I use a phone line connecting to the tivo. When I make the move, tivo will be connected via ethernet cable.

Technically, if there are multiple Tivos on the account and your Tivo gets the MSD rate, you have to have your mother unsubscribe it so that you can subscribe it with your own account because the Tivos will no longer be at the same address.
That said, Tivo doesn't bother to look for such things. You could leave it on her account and pay her or you could have her change the billing on that Tivo to your credit card.

There is only 1 account with Tivo and we get a really good rate that I do not want to loose. I just want to keep the same monthly rate.
From what I understand, I can take it with me, leave the account under her name and change the billing to my name and card? I'm just afraid it may affect the program updates or the connection to the internet.

There is a possibility that when the billing information is changed that TiVo will notice it's been transferred to a different person, especially if the billing address is different than the one used for the "primary" TiVo.
To be on the safe side, keep the billing card the same and just reimburse your mother.
As far as changing from dialup to broadband connection, no that does not affect anything as far as billing is concerned.

There is only one account with Tivo, but each Tivo is billed separately and can therefore be billed to separate credit cards. The functions of the Tivo would not be affected at all.
Tivo doesn't care who's credit card is being used as long as they get their money.
