Hi,

I am thinking about getting rid of my blockbuster mail based movie rental system for the new Amazon VOD service. But I has a question:

If I ONLY want to purchase movies from Amazon using TIVO do I need to buy a full TIVO membership package? I don't want to record TV shows because I already use Verizon FIOS for that so I am strictly talking Amazon movies for the TIVO.

I guess I am asking about diversity in TIVO's product line. Do they have something for everybody including folks who solely want to download movies (and movies only - because I like iTunes for mp3s) from Amazon.

Amazon and TIVO seem like the ultimate selection for moving into the future. Amazon has a great selection of movies and TIVO is a great DVR product and you don't have to be bothered with that watching movies on your computer crap. None of the other others (blockbuster, netflix, cinemanow, movielink, etc.) can boost those two characteristics.

But I want an Amazon only package from TIVO. To force me to buy all of the other features would be highway robbery.

Thanks for your comments!!!!

You need a fully subscribed TiVo to download Amazon Unbox content. Your selection would encompass everything that Unbox offers - TV and movies.

The downside, currently, is that Unbox downloads are still SD. There has been much talk about Amazon offering high-def content but nothing firm has been announced date-wise.

The value to you is your decision. Perhaps a VuDu box would be more your speed

Thanks for the suggestion. That VuDu thing looks good but I am not sure about it because I've never heard of it before.

It looks to me that TIVO needs to diversify its product line. By the way, I used to own a TIVO box. I traded it in for Verizon FIOS but Verizon movies are too expensive.

It looks like I should settle on AppleTV. Man there is a reason why Apple it surging as a new content provider and why TIVO has struggled for years.

I wish that TIVO would wake up and diversify it product line. It might just win over more customers and make wall street happier by doing such a thing.
