OK my internal modem has passed away. (had the same problem as someone else where it picked up the line off hook)

I can not afford a turbonet card right now so thats not an option. I got the $5 cable to connect the tivo to an external modem (grrr I already had one which the pic was better or I would have know I already had one) I also do not want the turbo net I want to wait to get that nice cache card memory upgrade :-)

I pulled out my old 56k USR. Set all the dips connected to a PC set all the AT commands.

I set the tivo to ,#319 and it is system ver 3+

It picks up. It dials. It connects but on the screen it still says dialing and thats where it stops. eventually it says fail. Test Call, Daily Call, Get new Number Call, all fail the same way.

Picks up dials newerr newerr the usual crap but then nothing. Never "finishes" the dialing phase and move onto the connecting phase even though I can clearly hear it had already connected.

Suggestions?

Try a slower connection rate with ,#396

If it's a sportster with 8 dip switches, you don't have to do any of the AT command stuff. You just have to set the switches.
1 3 5 7 8 down and 2 4 6 up

I tried that already. 9600 baud same exact responce.

its as if the modem is connecting and the tivo does not "realize" it yet. On screen it says Service not Responding or something like that.

I did just the dips first. No joy thats when I did the AT stuff from a computer. Still no joy. same exact behavior
