no copy protection on cranky geeks 130 or 132

I have TiVocast Cranky Geeks eoisode 120, 128,129, 130,132.
on my TiVo HD. of those I just noticed the last two had no copy protection and indeed just downloaded 130 via desktop and watched it, no problems.


so the question is...
Is this a new trend or just a glitch that will go away and the geeks back to being copy protected??

The same for preventing TiVo to TiVo transfers - if I can have it downloaded to each of my Tivos there shouldn't be any reason to not be able to move it from TiVo to Tivo.

I remember seeing an answer to this a while back. The reason given was that it allowed for the content provider to get a better count of TiVo Vs Web downloads.

would be a nice trend though to allow us to use TiVo desktop. I just built a new office in the house and do not have a TiVo or TV in here. Pulling the show from the TiVo I might watch it on to my office PC is a nice benefit. Does not mess up the download count, unless you consider I could pull it straight to my Office PC from the internet - but then TiVo is out of the picture. Better for TiVo to allow me to TiVoToGo the show.


I have not treid MRV yet. The show info still speaks of being copy protected, I suspect this is a glitch :(

I still agree tha if the content is not really being protected they should remove the copy protection on TiVo though.

Ziff Davis requested that the CrankyGeeks and DL.TV episodes not be copy protected, so that's why you see them free to transfer. If you're seeing some episodes that are copy protected, we'll look into that.

For our other partners, yes, in general they're restricted to the DVR that you download them to, mostly so the partners can get better tracking of viewership, but also sometimes because of secondary rights issues (restrictions in our contract with the partner that limit us in terms of how the content can be used).

If you're seeing some episodes that are copy protected, we'll look into that.
the ones copy protected were older so if I see any new ones with that I will send an email

Note, however, that the program info had not been updated. It still described the show as copy protected. That descriptive info needs to be updated with the good news. :)

hit select to bring up program screen.
hit info to see program details - and there it is.
