I know nothing about direct tv or tivo, never had either before and don't have then now. I have cable with their hd dvr.
Anyway, I have just bought a vacation home and want to know if I were to install a direct tv antenna that will receive their hd feed on the roof of each house (assuming I had site lines at both places) and buy one hd tivo box and paid for direct tv to activate it at my primary residence. If I unplug the tivo box and take it to my other house and connect it to the antenna feed will it decode the signals so I can view shows on the hd tv I have there?
Basically I want to have TV in both homes but only pay for one location.
Thanks,
Jeff

Yes it will work but it probably will violate DTV's TOS (IF they find out). Also, you won't get the locals from "location 1" when you move to "location 2" unless they are in the same area.

I doubt it would be seen as a problem as it's only one receiver in two locations.
If the OP was actually using a receiver in each home at the same time, then it would certainly be theft of service.

Note that a TiVoHD does not work with DirecTV and a used HDTiVo for DirecTV will have limited use as DirecTV is/has transitioning to MPEG4 which is not compatible with it.

Unless he suspends one account it is TECHNICALLY a violation of TermsOfService. I doubt it would be seen as a problem as it's only one receiver in two locations.

a freind has 6 dtv receivers in his home. he takes one to a cabin at his hunting camp for about 4 months out of the year. he had asked dtv 4-5 years ago if this was ok and the csr said yes, he even hooks it up to the phone line so if his grandkids visit they can order ppv, so directv knows its in a different location than his regular dtv residence account.

The OP would only have one account. He would just need to tell D* he moved his service address to be kosher. 'Course, it's irrelevant as he's asking to use a cable HD Tivo with D*, which won't work. So moot point all around.

no he asked if he bought a hd tivo (Directv HD Tivo HR10-250) would it work if he put up a directv antenna (sat dish) at his home and also at his new vaction home and got directv service would it work.
the Directv HD Tivo HR10-250 has been known simply as the HD Tivo since it was released.
he states he has a cable hd dvr stb now not a Tivo HD with cable service.
