I have the impression that his posts slowed around the same time Earl stopped completely.

Yes, slowed, but he still managed to put his 2cents in to almost every thread when people mentioned "the reutrn of TiVo." I'm sure he is reading this and hope he understands it's all in good humor (with a small twist of the knife). :) I have the impression that his posts slowed around the same time Earl stopped completely.

Probably still trying to work on a face-saving post.

That said, it cracks me up when people on either side post claims about whether something will happen, as if they know.

That's why whenever someone, who is not a true insider, posts some sort of concrete message "it is not coming back" or "it will come back", it is pretty silly either way.

Are you suggesting Mr. L was Mr. Hyde to Earl's Dr. Jeckyl?

Not much need to come around here since I no longer have an HR-10 with bugs to report. ;) Unlike RS4, I'm not on a crusade to bash something I no longer own (or in his case, has never owned). I have too much HD to watch on my 3 flawless HR20s to waste the time. :)

Having been a member here and Tivo owner since 1999,which was probably while some posters here were still in diapers (or act like it), I think I have had a bit of experience with it and more of a right to post comments than some. For many years I was a strong Tivo supporter. But as I've said so many times, I'm not so brainwashed or close-minded not to look beyond Tivo. 95%+ of my posts since getting an HR20 were directed at those who were bashing it, like RS4 who never even owned one. And the only bad thing I ever said about Tivo was that it still had bugs after all these years. As for claiming it would never be back, I've probably only voiced that opinion a few times. Certainly much less than all those who claimed Tivo owners would leave in droves large enough to put DirecTV out of business (which the numbers show never happened). Funny how some feel the need to focuss on a couple of posts to try and justfy their attacks, and ignore the thousands of posts made over the years helping Tivo users and supporting Tivo despite the flaws. <shrug>

Will Tivo actually be back? Only time will tell for sure. But as I said above, right NOW I have a DVR that does everthing I need it to do and does it at least as well as Tivo, and in many ways much better. Would I get a Tivo if/when they arctually come out? Without knowing what features it has or how much better it does it than the HR2x and it's features a year or two from now, I don't know. But I won't certainly get one JUST because it says Tivo on the front.

Will Tivo actually be back? Only time will tell for sure.Skeptical, cynical, pessimistic, distrustful, disbelieving, doubtful, suspicious, disparaging.

Did I use enough words to describe these two very short sentences, given content of the actual press release that was posted in the various forums? :)

"like RS4 who..."

Anyone else think Mark's obsession with RS4 is pretty funny?

...As for claiming it would never be back, I've probably only voiced that opinion a few times...I really don't remember how Mark approached it, but saying "there is no way" DTV would make nice with Tivo is one thing, and saying "It's unlikely" is quite another. But either way you look at it, the odds were stacked highly against it, so I think Mark is off the hook and can and should ignore the nasty posts.

On the other hand, no one here said "just you wait and see, Tivo and DTV will be back together", either, because everyone here knew the odds were pretty long, so no one here is a seer or a prophet just because they once speculated that it might be remotely possible or held on to a pattern of wishful thinking.

For folks to try to hold any of these thin arguments against Mark is pretty bush league, and they are making themselves look a lot more foolish than Mark by attempting that.

"Flawless Hr20"????????????????????? Be serious, I continually have issues with mine and I keep hoping the next CE release will fix it. But it never does.

Come on TiVo speed up the release of this product! I can't wait to dump my HR20 boat anchor.

Is there someplace I can sign up to be notified when the new TiVo unit comes out? Since I'm happy with cable and my TiVo S3 I don't keep up with DirecTV very closely these days. I'd hate to be struck by one of the many "flawless" HR20s that are going to get thrown out the window the day the new TiVo becomes available. :D

That means I can lay back and let all of the early adopters beta-test the new DTivo for me, while I stay comfortably ensconsed with my HR20 and HR10s until the jury is finally in on the new "flawless" Tivo.
