View Full Version : Service update while recording?

My tivo was recording a show ( i was watching the recording on a lag to avoid commercials ) and I guess the box decided that right then, half way through the show, would be a great time to do a service update... Followed by a "Processing service update this may take up to an hour." message. Is this behavior something I have to look forward to in the future? That makes me all warm and fuzzy about my new purchase. I thought Time Warners DVR's were bad, but at least they didn't preempt my recordings with service updates.

I don't think it should do that. I forced mine to update last night and it downloaded it and did it, but then under the about TiVo screen it said update pending on next reboot or something, so I then forced the TiVo to reboot and then I got that screen about may take an hour or longer.
The service updates are supposed to install at 2 am if you don't manually restart earlier.

The last network connection time posted was 9/2 1:49 AM. So it did connect and download, it apparently decided to install it 9/2 8:20 PM. My power didn't flicker, I didn't reset it, I didn't even press anything on the remote. One second i was watching the show, the next minute the red record light went off, the machine reset and the update message came on.
